Abstract
While preparing this thesis, I have consistently kept in mind that one of the important aims of content analysis is to determine the trends and changes in the content of publications. It must, therefore, be understood right from the start that this study is offered as a contribution to the field of weekly newspaper research only to the extent that it attempts to show the present trends and changes of the editorials of Wisconsin weeklies. The plan followed in the development of this investigation is the outgrowth of my class-room experience in the course, Journalism Research, offered in the Graduate School of Journalism at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
