Abstract

The present study represents an investigation of the effect of Cumarone Indene resin on electret formation in waxes. Interest in the investigation was first stimulated when it was observed in the laboratory that this resin markedly enhanced the degree of electret formation within itself, is capable of bringing about pronounced electret behavior in paraffin wax, even when present in practically negligible amounts. A study of this nature is primarily justified by the fact that it may well lead to a broader understanding as to the types of chemical linkages that are able to make a contribution to the magnitude of the electrostatic field associated with the electret.
