Abstract
In order to appreciate fully the large field included in the word disease which might be included in this thesis, the word must first be defined. It is of French derivation, being coined from the two words, des or negative, plus aise or ease. Going further, Dorland’s medical dictionary further defines it as any departure from a state of health. More specifically it is a definite morbid process having a characteristic train of symptoms. It may effect the whole body and any of its parts, and its etiology, pathology, and prognosis may be known or unknown.
