Abstract

The successful synthesis of chlorinated and brominated dihydroxydlphenylmethanes during the last ten years and their use as germicides and fungicides coupled with the known effect of fluorine and alkyl groups upon phenol, warranted the attempted synthesis of fluorinated and alkylated dihydroxydiphenylmethanee . It is the purpose of this thesis to attempt the synthesis of fluorinated and alkylated dihydroxydiphenylmethanee for purposes of their use as germicides and fungicides.
