Abstract
All children are individuals, and as such they have interests. Every interest they have leads them to books . In them, they may lose and again find themselves . Their queries are answered, their emotions are stirred , and their lives are enriched. Thus it should be our aim to instill in children a love for reading because, a good book is a good companion, a good story is good pastime , and a good poem is good taste. It is these things that make children see the beauty in life and start them on the road towards an appreciation and love of literature. Inasmuch as reading plays so important a role in the lives of children, this thesis has been formulated as an attempt to show the specific value of reading and literature .to children, with special emphasis on the story and poem.
