Abstract
Thia is a children’s age. During the last five years the child welfare movement has become outstanding in America. Hundreds of books and magazine articles, both scientific and popular, have been written on child study. The four books in this thesis add distinctive contributions to the literature of child welfare. "The Child in America” by William I. and Dorothy Swaine Thomas is a survey of the entire child study movement. "The Growth of the Mind" by Kurt Koffka is an introduction to child psychology and the new "configuration" theory. "Psychological Care of Infant and Child" by John B. Watson is a study of the child from the behaviorist viewpoint. "Difficulties in Child Development" by Mary Chadwick is a study of the problems arising in the training of children.
