Abstract

In the year 1875 a grave crisis occurred in the Turkish Empire. This crisis was but one of the many problems presented to European diplomats of the nineteenth century in solving international crises. This was the reoccurrence of spasmodic revolutionary movements peculiar to nineteen century Europe. The difficulties of the Turkish Empire came from within, hence internal. With the corruption of the Turkish Government came the challenging of certain European peoples of the Balkan Hegemony of the Sultan.
