Abstract
Anesthesia is a condition of insensibility to pain, either in part, or in whole. It may be divided into two classes: natural and artificial. The type which has been sought through the ages is the artificial anesthesia which could dull man’s sensibility to physical pain while the surgeon worked his painful but corrective arts upon the body.
