Abstract
The jointed thumbs of old man Public Opinion are turning slowly downward, and the press is out of tune with the old medley popularly called "Editorial Influence". The time honored power of the members of the Fourth Estate to guide the embryo opinions of a reading public into channels properly directed by the policy of a paper is slowly being metamorphosed into a condition in which the newspapers themselves will be subject to public opinion and dependent upon it, for whatever power and influence they are to possess.
