Abstract
This thesis has a threefold aim. I. The writer considers whether marriage as opposed. to promiscuity is necessary for the stability of the family and or the nation. II. The writer then aims to decide in the light of experience which theory of marriage among selected pre-Christian. peoples was the best from the standpoint of family and national stability. III. The writer then aims to assay modern theory of marriage to determine whether it corresponds with the theory of marriage found in Part II to be the best for family and national stability.
