Abstract
Extensive dissection of various mammalian forms, expecially of man, the rabbit, and the cat has led to a recognition of a certain vascular pattern of the inferior vena cava which is typical for the group, It occurs so consistently that the occasional specimens which differ from it are of interest because of both their ontogenetic and phylogenetic significance.
