Abstract

The application of the x-ray as a means of diagnosis or pathological conditions about the teeth and jaws is a method that has achieved a position or the utmost importance in recent years. Its value has long been recognized by the surgeon in the diagnosis of grosser surgical lesions of the maxillary bones, such as fractures, tumors, impacted teeth and the like. Until recent, however, the dentist in general practice rarely found it necessary to resort to investigation by means of the x-ray. At the present time, to those who are familiar with its advantages, the constant employment of this agent as a means of diagnosis and as an aid to proper treatment has become indispensable. The x-ray in building a practice is as important as the dental chair. To accomplish good both for the operator and the patient, they both (the chair and x-ray) are a requisite to a bigger and better dental practice.
