Abstract
Few of us realize the awful economic and financial plight under which Germany has existed during the last twelve years. What a contrast it is to her condition previous to the World War when her people were busy, prosperous, and happy. Vast and phenomenal are the changes that have been brought about in her government, in her economic and financial structures, in her foreign relations, and in her people. Who can estimate the tremendous loss in human life and energy, in national wealth, and in natural resources that the turbulent times have brought upon her.
