Abstract
The purpose of this work on the frog heart will be to present clearly and adequately a complete description of the anatomy of the heart, with particular emphasis on the number, location, and exact position of the cardiac valves. Many unsolved problems and several contradictions overshadow a ·complete knowledge of the finer points of the anatomy. It is my purpose in this treatise on the frog heart to aid in the solution of some of these problems so that a work of this kind, which is minute in comparison with previous work done on this organ, may not be without value. There is no work on the anatomy of the he art which gives a complete picture of this organ in the detailed manner which one would wish it to be. My description of this functional organ of life will not be compared to the masterpieces done on the frog in general, but it will, I believe, give a description that will aid in a better understanding of the organ. In a few ways this work will be original in that some of the described features are to be found nowhere in the literature. In fact, many of my dissections show a complete contrast to those mentioned in the finer books on the frog.
