Abstract
Seven thousand miles west of our Pacific coast - so far west that it is East - lies the western frontier of these United States of America. There in their watery beds lie Christian Luzon, Mohammedan Mindanao and the semi-savage Sulu Archipelago - the chief islands of the group of the Philippine Islands. They are next-door neighbors to the Orient - China and Japan to the north, Siam and India to the northwest, Madagascar to the west and Australia and Borneo - the traditional home of the wild-man - to the south.
