Abstract
The Cyanophyceae, a group of plants which are commonly known as the Blue-Green Algae, have a characteristic blue-green color due to a green pigment-chlorophyl, with which there is associated a blue pigment, phycocyanin. The Cyanophyceae are found everywhere on fresh salt water, on damp soil, rocks, bark, etc. These are among the simplest and lowest of all green plants. The plant consists of a single cell, but in most species these cells tend to adhere in colonies. These algae are able to grow at a higher temperature than can any other algae.
