Abstract
This thesis is not, in any way, meant to he a history of France during the time of Joan of Arc. It is, rather, the story of Joan of Arc, omitting as much as possible, the polities and figures that surrounded her. Joan of Arc has been kept in the foreground as much as possible, even at the expense of other interests. Joan's strange career remains a story the conclusion of which is as yet unfound and many years, possibly hundreds, may elapse before it is found at all.
