The project, a reproduction of Charles Knight's "The Commercial History of a Penny Magazine," was a collaborative endeavor by Laurie Dickinson and Sarah Wadsworth, begun as part of a graduate seminar at the University of Minnesota. The project had three primary objectives: to reproduce faithfully the appearance of the original pages of the Penny Magazine; to add value to the original supplements by providing annotations, searching and navigational capabilities, and a bibliography; and to demonstrate the value of online scholarly editions by effectively utilizing the graphic and textual resources of the web.
