Abstract
The more I studied the thought of Maurice Blondel, I became increasingly convinced that his philosophy was extremely relevant for us today. If the unbeliever regards God as irrelevant or has laid Him to rest as a myth that man has outgrown, it is no less true that for increasingly many believers today there is also a crisis of belief. Underneath the "crisis of authority of the Church" one can't help bu wonder if there is not a more basic issue: that of the manner of man's self-fulfillment, the problem of God and man's relationship to Him. Detached insights and explanations abound and it is all too easy to grasp the one that appeals at the moment. However these give only temporary answers and really do not face squarely what might be a more essential question.
