Abstract
In elementary calculus we are acquainted with the various methods of integration. We are taught how to integrate some simple functions and others that are slightly more complicated. Then we go on to more advanced mathematics and come upon integrals which practically defy integration by the elementary methods. We naturally have recourse to integral tables and just take the word of the compilers that the value of the integral is what they state it to be. But how did they find this value? How can we prove to ourselves that their evaluation is correct?
