Abstract
Looking as far back as 1959, through financial and business journals, at U.S. industry's profit record, a picture of continuing growth is found, which every year surpasses estimates of conservative businessmen and economists. Today, the seemingly ever-present prospect of profits has acted as somewhat of an anesthetic, deadening the businessman's and economist's pessimistic tendencies, which usually seek out signals of business declines.
