Abstract
In 1976 Judge John Reynolds ruled that the Milwaukee Public School System was unlawfully and unconstitutionally segregated. Thus, Milwaukee, as many other cities had been in the past and will be in the future, was forced to integrate its schools. The practical execution of the ruling will cause many students to leave their neighborhood schools and attend other schools in the city. It is this uprooting that may cause within the child fear of the unknown or loss of control, safety, or security. This fear or loss can result in feelings of frustration and anger which induce a negative atmosphere. The purpose of this paper is to make suggestions as to how the child can get along better in his integrated school, what teachers can do to help students feel secure, and show what some other systems have done to improve human relations.
