Abstract
A successful adjustment to the junior high school environment can enable the newly enrolled seventh grade student to focus attention and energies on other important goals which can be achieved in this school experience. Orientation activities may be developed by the school guidance services to assist the student in this adjustment. Examination of the means through which information about the services, procedures, and policies of the school is communicated to the new student in orientation, with the goal of providing the information in ways which will help the student assimilate and apply it successfully in adapting to the school environment seems a worthwhile consideration in planning various means for the student to learn about the school and participate in it effectively.
This investigation attempts to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of one of the media which may be used to convey information to the student during orientation, the student handbook.
