Abstract
Whenever there are increasing demands on the speed and accuracy the computer comes to the rescue of the user. In the present day world computers are being used in all the scientific, technical or business field of study.
Computer science is very much an art in in its own right. It is an art in t he sense that no two programmers are alike and thus, in turn, will write different programs for the same given task. As every programmer has different angle of arriving at solution it is quite difficult to bring out every little details and satisfy the logic of all the users. This pa per contains a program written in FORTRAN IV language to calculate the lateral active earth pressures due to soil, ground water and the normal surcharge loads in granular soil. An attempt has been made to cover the minute details of calculation and display all the calculated lateral forces.
