Abstract
Every social situation requires certain kinds of knowledge and skill. Many kinds of competence are taken for granted but it is important to note that to engage in even such simple acts as buying a suit, calling a taxi, or paying a bill, an individual needs certain kinds of information and social skills. More complicated acts require more sophisticated skills and more knowledge e.g. typing a letter.
