Abstract
The necessity for a means of official communication between the home and the school has long been recognized in American education and as a consequence, the common practice in school systems is to use some form of report card as a means of conveying information relative to the progress being made by pupils in school. Over the years reporting has existed in schools to inform pupils, parents, and the administration of the degrees to which teachers judge the pupils to be achieving certain objectives. It is a complex and difficult problem.
