Abstract
The Sisters of Charity, BVM, an educationally oriented congregation of women religious, radically changed their method of personnel placement in 1968. Moving from a vertical concept of obedience in which sisters were assigned positions by Provincial Superiors, the congregation affirmed personal freedom and responsibility as the sister's obedient response today. This change in personnel placement policy is reflective of the renewal and adaptation of the BVMs and is a direct result of the philosophy of humanism which characterizes the congregation today .
