Abstract
Groundwater is an important natural resource and its contamination is a serious problem. Nearly half the population in the United States uses groundwater as a source of drinking water (1). Groundwater is also a major part of the earth's hydrologic cycle, accounting for approximately 4 percent of its water, which is second only to oceans and seas (1).
