Abstract
The complexity of medicine and contemporary hospital structure has produced the emergence of numerous specialized individuals who converge at the bedside to provide patient care. All of these individuals, relating directly or indirectly to the patient, perform a function and leave. Only the nurse is in the patient care setting continuously. Therefore, the nurse is the one who can manage, and is really responsible for the coordination and continuity of patient care, which is being divided among these many specialists.
