Abstract

The past ten years has seen a decline of writings on the topic of St. Joseph. This applies to both books and published articles dealing with the saint. In researching the topic, it became apparent the most recent materials in print, whether devotional or scholarly, that dealt exclusively with the saint were largely dated before the Second Vatican Council. This lack of recent material presented the limitation of working with dated research. When one thinks of the excellent work being done in New Testament studies during the decade of the sixties, the hope is that some good and up-to-date evaluations on St. Joseph will find their way into print shortly.
