Abstract

The objective of this essay is to give the reader a broad summary of the nature of brewery effluents and to outline proposed solutions to the problems associated with their removal. More precisely the objectives are:

1. To classify breweries effluents.

2. To rationalize the severity of effluents.

3. Postulate an engineering approach to solving breweries effluent problems.

4. To propose a method of removing undesirable insoluble and soluble solids from effluents by physical separation methods via centrifugation and evaporation processes.

5. To comparatively study various types of centrifuges and evaporators considered in the proposed process.

6. To draw conclusions and submit findings of the application of the physical separation process in an actual application.
