Abstract
The Russian Campaign of 1812 had its origins in the Treaty of Tilsit, June 1807, which shattered the Fourth Coalition composed of Great Britain, Prussia, and Russia and initiated the Franco- Russian alliance which lasted for the next five years. Both Napoleon and Alexander I had like personalities because they were double dealers, but Frederick William III of Prussia lacked the subtlety of Napoleon. Therefore, Napoleon and Alexander I decided to divide Europe between themselves and dictated the peace to Frederick William III.
