Abstract
Educators have an important and continuing interest in the teaching-learning processes that meet the personal-social development needs of students and society plus subject matter mastery for effective functioning in a complex technological society. By effective functioning is meant that the intended or expected activity proper to a person is operative. There is currently appearing on the American educational scene and elsewhere a vigorous interest in groups and group dynamics by all segments of society including education. Group dynamics is a large study and has many applications to many areas. This paper will confine itself to those aspects of group dynamics or grouping for educational purposes that stress personal-social growth in addition to subject matter achievement.
