Abstract
In the history of civilization, fascinating discoveries have often served as inspiration for works of art. One would hardly suspect, however, that the discovery of the coffee drink, though fascinating enough, would inspire painters, poets, and composers to create works of art with lasting appeal. Nevertheless, in vogue during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, "coffee art" was popular enough to assume a permanent and distinctive place in history.
