Abstract
In the Fall of every year, beginning dental students enter the halls and classrooms of the fifty-seven dental colleges accredited by the American Dental Association with varying degrees of optimism, fear, anxiety, and anticipation. In general, this seemingly strange grouping of emotions blends to form the nucleus of a highly motivated student eager to begin an educational pattern that will launch hiID1 into a rewarding and satisfying career in the Profession of Dentistry. He has reached this level in his education by completing a stringent course of instruction, from his previous university, for a minimum of three years and often by obtaining a Bachelor's Degree. Now, he has reached his initial education goal, that of acceptance into a dental college, and is anxious to work forward. Any member of the teaching profession would be happy to begin a year with a collection of students so enthused and ready to absorb as much knowledge as possible about a subject. It is, in fact, a joy to participate in the learning experience with these apt and eager individuals. Each is like a sponge absorbing information as rapidly as it is presented.
