Abstract
One of the most crucial responsibilities of the elementary school is the teaching of reading. The function of the entire reading program is to contribute to the pupil's fine development so that he can learn the other subjects taught by the school and so that he can live intelligently and with pleasure in this world. Initial reading skills are taught at the primary level and must be developed along with new skills in the intermediate grades.
