Abstract
Although measuring devices designed for the indexing of ability for success in higher education have been on the academic scene for a number of years, the devices have, in sane respects, been deficient in fulfilling the objectives for which they were designed; and there has been a continuing effort to improve the efficiency of the techniques used. The battery of tests developed by the .American College Testing Program, Inc . , (ACT), is a comparatively recent addition to the type of evaluation procedures already in existence for screening prospective applicants for college admission.
