Abstract
Mathematics constitutes a body of knowledge which, while still much in the process of discovery and formulation, increasingly presents a basic unity. Dealing with characteristics or properties, mathematics organizes these concepts in a unifying way by building simple structures into more complex ones, or by analyzing complex structures to show they are composed of certain basic units.
