Abstract
Today's instructors have a challenge which is perhaps greater than at any other period of our history. Considerably more evidence is needed on many aspects of learning, such as motivation, provision for individual differences, and relationships between each subject and the entire curriculum. In our concern of the problems in other fields of education spelling appear to an area where a good deal of exploration is still needed. To many educators spelling has too frequently been neglected and this has resulted in situations in which the carry over from the formal spelling lesson to other subjects of the curriculum seems to be negligible.
