Abstract
Andrew Greeley remarked in a recent article on Catholic education which was published in the January 25th issue of America, "It has been a long time since anyone has had anything hopeful to say about Catholic education." The financial crisis is perceived to be acute, though admittedly this is not limited to the Catholic parochial school system. Furthennore, the quality of Catholic education is being subjected to critical analysis as an increasing number of publications flood the pr ess, pointing to the dubious value of continuing the Catholic educational system in view of the "poor" scholarship" which is being produced.
