Abstract
China entered a new era of development in 1978----an era of reforms instead of continuous revolution. So did the education system in China. The purpose of this paper is to explore the influence of the existing higher education system on secondary school education. The unified national entrance examination, admission policy, the policy of job allocation upon graduation, and some other aspects of the higher education system and their impact upon the teaching in secondary schools will be discussed. Analysis and implications will be provided. For a better understanding of the climate of Chinese education, a brief introduction to Chinese education, its system and its current reforms follows.
