Abstract
Deschooling Society by Ivan Illich was first published in 1970. Its sequel, After Deschooling, What? was published in 1971 and consists of a series of essays which respond to Illich 1s radical thesis as put forth in his first book cited above. Illich has also published other books and has contributed articles to periodicals and journals. He ranks among contemporary educational philosophers as a radical.
