Abstract
By a complex integer alpha, is meant a complex number of the form a + bw where w is the primitive cube root of unity, (-1/2 + 1/2 √3 i), and a and b are integers. To distinguish the latter integers from the complex integers, we shall call them rational integers. The classical Theory of Numbers is the theory of the rational integers. A great many of the theorems about the rational integers can be extended to the complex integers.
