Abstract
It is well known that mitochondria are the basic organelles of respiratory metabolism in the cello It has also been recognized, since the early experiments with thyroid hormones, that one of the most conspicuous actions of the thyroid hormones is their stimulation of the basal metabolic rate of diverse tissues. Therefore, it is not surprising that the investigation of the effects of thyroxine on mitochondria has become a subject of great general interest.
