Abstract
The Purpose of this thesis is to fill a void in bibliographic research in the general area of speech, and in the particular discipline of Public Address that existed at the time the writer was studying for his Master of Arts degree, and still exists today. In order to have the scope necessary for a thesis, it was necessary to cover a longer period of time than the two years spent in graduate study.
