Abstract

This investigation was initiated as a result of concern about the high rate of attrition of students from schools of nursing. A survey of reasons given for students' withdrawals suggested the possibility of a relationship between attrition and attitude toward nursing. The problem was approached from the standpoint of attitude development and change during the time of initial clinical experience.
