Presented in this investigation are the derivations of the governing differential equations for the elastic-plastic analysis of a cylindrical tank which is composed of a shell and a plate. The solution is obtained by solving simultaneous linear equations. A computer aided numerical analysis is used to slave for the simultaneous linear equations. A particular example is Worked out in detail. The stresses and deformations are computed and a stress profile is plotted for each step of the loading cases.
