Abstract
The purposes of this thesis are: 1. To present a tutorial development of the functional power series as a general representation for nonlinear systems; 2. To present the results of an evaluation of the Wiener characterization with emphasis on its experimental applicability in obtaining approximations of the terms in the functional power series of a given nonlinear system. The experimental application of Wiener's characterization is accomplished by digital computer methods.
