The characterization of lubricating fluids using AC impedance spectroscopy
Abstract
Impedance Spectroscopy has been used to study the interrelationships that exist between lubricating fluids having different additives, and the bulk and interfacial properties of fluid/metal systems. Here, electrical equivalent circuit modeling was used to represent the resulting physiochemical phenomena for the various additive chemistries. The wetting behavior associated with various fluid/metal substrates was also investigated using both ac impedance techniques and traditional contact angle methods.
