Abstract
In September, nineteen hundred thirty-nine, the third A grade, of the Robert M. Follette School of Milwaukee, Wisconsin was given permission to use a new speller, the Newlon-Hanna Textbook-Notebook. The problem worked on during the semester was to find out whether the children used the same words in their spontaneous writings which were listed in their speller.
